QNAS Conducts Research on Traditional Rice Using Organic Farming Practices

Quezon National Agricultural School (QNAS),  one of TESDA Administered Schools is currently conducting a research on "Adaptability Trial of Traditional Rice Varieties Using Organic Farming Practices under Quezon Province Conditions."  The research is in support of the Department of Agriculture's (DA)  thrust to strengthen rice self- sufficiency and food security.

In collaboration with DA-RFU IVA,  QNAS started the research in May 2012 and will end in May this year.  According to QNAS Administrator, Mr. Ernesto Doblon, the one year study is being done on wet and dry seasons to determine the performance of traditional rice responses to the changing seasons.  Once completed, the harvested traditional rice variety seeds will be distributed to farmers in the Quezon province for mass production.

The research is being conducted by QNAS agriculture trainers, Mr. Ronaldo Z. Morales and Mr. Rafael M. Decena, Jr.
