TESDA Quezon to launch livelihood training programs for Sariaya Relocatees

The TESDA Quezon, with San Miguel Corporation and Quezon National Agricultural School (QNAS), officially launched its livelihood programs and skills training on October 6, 2020 at  San Miguel - Christian Gayeta Homes, Sariaya Quezon. It aims to help the relocatees from Sariaya to develop an environment-friendly community and sustainable livelihood.

San Miguel Corpoation (SMC), in partnership with the local government, built the San Miguel - Christian Gayeta Homes, a typhoon resilient 5.4 relocation site at Brgy. Castañas, Sariaya, Quezon, which aims to help relocate the affected fisherfolks along the coastal area of Sariaya. The area consists of facilities for recreation, market-place, multi-purpose hall, and stable electricity and water supply.

The fisherfolks livelihood, before the relocation, depended mainly on the resources they get in the sea and sometimes from the crops and coconuts.

She said, “Pagkatapos ng inyong kurso sa TESDA ay bibigyan po namin kayo ng libreng toolkits…pag sumikapan ninyo pong makatapos kasi meron po kaming nakaprograma sa inyo na gagawin ninyo after ninyong makatapos…Marami po kaming naka line-up na kurso pa para sa inyo, katuwang ang TESDA at ang pamahalaang lokal, na naka-alalay sa atin.”

The TESDA Regional Director Toni June A. Tamayo, invited all the beneficiaries to the livelihood programs and skills training. He expressed, “Kailangan po natin ito hindi lamang ngayon, kung hindi para sa kinabukasan ng ating mga pamilya.”
