TESDA R4A inaugurates a new training center in Laguna

To increase its reach to more clienteles, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Region IV-A (CALABARZON) establishes a new Provincial Training Center (PTC) in Calauan, Laguna—the TESDA-LLDA Provincial Training Center.

The four buildings, TESDA-Laguna Provincial Office, TESDA-LLDA Administration building, welding area, and dormitory, initially occupy a portion of the two-hectare lot provided by the Laguna Lake Development Authority in its property located in Brgy. Bangyas, Calauan, Laguna as an outcome from an agreement between these two national government agencies. The building was constructed through the Department of Public Works and Highways Region IV-A.

The location of the TESDA-LLDA Training Center, situated at the middle part of the province, is very ideal not only to the communities in the resettlement areas in the municipality of Calauan, but shall also provide technical education and skills development services in Laguna’s second, third, and fourth districts. A dormitory was also constructed within the premises for the employees and prospective trainees.

The TESDA-LLDA Provincial Training Center is equipped with the corresponding facilities for its registered programs as a training institution for Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I and NC II, and Trainer’s Methodology Level I.

The Center is also accredited as a Competency Assessment Center for Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I and NC II, Trainer’s Methodology Level I, Bookkeeping NC III and Agroentrepreneurship NC II.

To ensure the sustainability of the training center, the TESDA Laguna Provincial Office was relocated within the site of the TESDA-LLDA Provincial Training Center.

The establishment of the TESDA-LLDA Provincial Training Center is part of the Agency’s continuing efforts to expand the reach of its services, and develop more highly-skilled workers in the countryside. This will provide TVET clients more access to quality technical-vocational trainings and usher in better livelihood opportunities as well.

TESDA’s Director General, Sec. Isidro S. Lapeña also expressed a directive statement during his speech at the TESDA-LLDA Provincial Training Center’s inauguration ceremony held on Jan. 30, 2020, emphasizing that the said provincial training center will also offer training programs in aquaculture.

The TESDA-LLDA Provincial Training Center is now ready to accept enrollees and candidates for competency assessment.
